Description
If you’re looking to step up your throwing game, our intermediate classes will help you to achieve your goals whether this be a specific form, shape or technique.
Running over six weeks, this block of intermediate evening classes will focus on throwing with red earthenware. Red clay, commonly known as terracotta, is synonymous with Stoke-on-Trent and was the clay of choice until the introduction of white firing clays and bodies. Decoration with a liquid clay called slip was popular with country potters around the UK and potters in Stoke mastered this art. In this evening class block, participants will throw a range of pots in terracotta clay, decorate them with slip, and glaze with a simple transparent glaze to allow the slip decoration to really shine!
Taught by 2024 Clay College Graduate, Camille Biddell, the course will be tailored to each individual, with an overall theme of dinner plates and large bowls. Participation in the group project is optional.
This set of classes will run every Wednesday from 6-9 pm starting on 6th November and finish on 11th December. All tools and materials will be provided, but please bring an apron and a towel to use during the class.
