Experience the art of Raku!

Andy Mason will be bringing his practical experience and knowledge of Raku to Clay College Stoke and providing inspiration for you to create your own group of pots in this 3 part Raku Masterclass.

Andy Mason, a potter with over 30 years of expertise, combines his individual techniques with the great tradition of Raku bringing his energy and enthusiasm to this fascinating activity; a blend of art, alchemy, and surprise. 

Over the 3 sessions, you’ll be guided through the making processes using either throwing or handbuilding techniques. The final session will feature a tutorial on glazing techniques followed by a day of ‘live’  dramatic firings revealing the unique characteristics of Raku.

This Masterclass is suitable for those who are able to throw or hand-build pots. 

Dates:

Monday 9th August- 6-9pm- Throwing/hand building pots in Raku Clay 

Monday 16th of Aug from- 6-9pm – Trimming and finishing pots

Sat 21st of Aug- 11am-4pm- Firing & lunch 

The cost of this 3 part Masterclass is £150.00 which includes all materials, equipment for making and firing as well as a light lunch on the day of firing. 

We have a number of Covid-19 safety measures in place to ensure your time at the college is both enjoyable and safe. We ask that you provide a negative lateral flow test 48 hours before entering the college on Saturday morning.
