Description
Join us this September to learn the ancient process of hand-building!
Taught by resident potter and Clay College Technician, Will Broughton, participants will learn how to create professional-looking pots using slab and coiling techniques.
In this evening block, students will work with red earthenware, commonly known as terracotta. This clay is synonymous with Stoke-on-Trent and was often decorated with a liquid clay called slip.
Over 6 weeks, students will hand-build their pots, decorate them with slip, and glaze with a simple transparent glaze to allow the slip decoration to really shine. By the end of the course, students will have gained invaluable tips and tricks to create hand-built pots as well as an introduction into slip decoration.
