Wednesday Evening Classes – Suitable for beginners and improvers

Taught by Professional Potter Sharon Lea
The Easter block runs for 6 weeks from April 30 – Jun 4

6-9pm at Clay College, Middleport Pottery

Whether you’re new to throwing or have some experience and are looking to stretch your abilities, our Wednesday Evening Classes will help you gain confidence and create pots you’ll be proud of! Taught to a high standard by professional makers, you’ll get to grips with techniques used by studio potters. Returning students will be stretched to develop their skills, and the same techniques we teach our full-time Diploma students will be introduced to everyone who takes part.

Running over six weeks, this block of evening classes will focus on throwing with stoneware clay. At the end of the course, we will fire your 6 best pots in our college Gas Kiln. The pots will be glazed in a beautiful selection of house glazes and fired in reduction.

You will make for 5 weeks, and glaze your creations in week 6 on 4th June.  Your teacher will advise you if your work is getting too large as space in the gas kiln is limited.

Taught by Professional potter and Clay College Cohort 2 Graduate, Sharon Lea, by the end of the course you will have gained a basic understanding of processes and techniques on the potter’s wheel.

Please note: students must allow time towards the end of the class to clean their workspace and leave the premises by no later than 9.00 pm.
